Sales & Marketing
“If people like you they'll listen to you, but if they trust you they'll do business with you” - Zig Ziglar
The essence of commerce is doing business, which means sales, boosted by marketing.
Traditionally there has always been tension between sales and marketing. Sales being too direct, not quite telling the right story behind the product, marketing not being quite results driven enough. We represent and understand both.
Sales has traditionally meant selling as much of a pre-determined product with the highest margin possible. In specific markets this is still the best way of selling, and pure sales people are needed e.g. in the food sector traders link external supply to external demand. However, as consumers are offered more choice and sales moves away from satisfying pure supply and demand a more sophisticated approach is needed. This approach relies heavily on the trust and goodwill built up between supplier and customer and is marked by the rise in importance and proliferation of Key Account Managers with organisations.
Marketing has evolved from simple advertising aimed at generating the correct feeling and perception within its target audience, to a highly sophisticated and analytical industry where increasingly large, and easier to access, amounts of data about target audiences is used to target the right customers with the right products at the right time through the right media channels.
